Frequently Asked Questions

What are 2 minute tales?

These are very short form stories that deal with common issues that children encounter. They help children express their feelings by offering narratives they can connect with. All 2 Minute Tales have a positive message and foster interaction between children and caregivers.

Who should read 2 minute tales?

The target reader is the childs’ caregiver, not the child. These stories are meant to spark interaction between child and caregiver, and can be read to the child as a bedtime story or as an activity during the day.

What is a story intention?

The intention of each story is meant to inform the caregiver of what the story’s purpose is. Hopefully it will help the reader remain aware of what the focus of the interaction should be. It is normally clear during the story, but it is nice to have the idea before even starting.

How do I use the Conversation Prompts?

Conversation prompts are only suggestions of further interaction. Use these directly, or as examples of next steps in the process of guiding the child through their challenge.

What is the difference between 2 minute tales and short stories?

2 minute tales are intentional, single focused, ~500 word stories about a particular challenge that a child may have. Short stories are just fun, longer (~2000 word) stories that may be good for young readers or as bedtime stories.

Why did you make this site available?

My daughter loves to be read a bedtime story each night. Plus, she does face all the normal challenges of growing up and being a kid. In order to take a more intentional approach to both, we decided to create a website dedicated to it. That way we could share this with the world.
