Have you ever lost someone or something that you deeply care about?
What are some of the feelings we might have when we lose someone or something we love?
Who in your life makes you feel happy, safe and supported when you’re feeling down?
Once upon a time, in a lush, green valley where the river meandered gently, there lived a young otter named Oscar. Oscar was a playful and curious otter, always eager to explore the wonders of the river and its banks. But, one sad day, Oscar's mother, who had been his guide and best friend, passed away. Since then, Oscar felt lost and alone, like a leaf adrift on the river.
One sunny morning, as Oscar sat by the river, he noticed a family of ducks gliding gracefully on the water. He watched them closely, admiring how they stuck together, helping and guiding each other. A little duckling strayed away from the group, but quickly, its mother quacked softly, guiding it back to safety. Watching them, Oscar felt a pang of sadness, missing his own mother.
Determined to find solace, Oscar decided to embark on a journey along the river. As he swam, he met various creatures: a wise old turtle who taught him the art of patience, a cheerful frog who showed him how to leap high even when weighed down, and a school of fish that demonstrated the strength of working together.
One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink, Oscar found himself in a part of the river he had never seen before. It was here he met Olive, a kind-hearted otter who had also lost her mother when she was young. Olive listened to Oscar, understanding his pain and sharing her own story of loss and healing. She told Oscar about the Circle of Life, and how their mothers' love and teachings would always be a part of them.
Inspired by Olive's words and the friends he had made along his journey, Oscar realized that even though his mother was no longer with him, the lessons she taught him and the love she gave were forever etched in his heart. He learned that it's okay to feel sad, but it's also important to remember the good times and to keep swimming forward.
Oscar returned home, carrying with him a newfound sense of hope and strength. He knew his journey of healing would continue, but now he also knew he wasn't alone. And every time he helped someone along the river, he felt his mother's warmth in his heart.
And so, Oscar the otter became a beacon of hope and resilience for all the creatures along the river, living each day with love, courage, and a splash of playful adventure, just as his mother had taught him.
